WASC Newsletter Autumn/Winter 2022-23

Apologies! It's been quite some time since our last newsletter so there's a fair bit to catch up on...

Since our last online update we've welcomed a great many new children to the club of all ages from across the school with attendance numbers finally returning to healthy pre-pandemic proportions.

All of our new cohort seem to have settled in very well and appear to be enjoying their time at the club very much.

We've welcomed a new Playworker, Emily, to the team and possibly one other new team member who may hopefully be joining us soon.

Our display boards are looking somewhat renewed, now showcasing the children's 'Pastapieces' and their decidedly autumnal 'Leafimals'.

Festive Fun.

In the run-up to Christmas the children took part in a variety of fun Christmas activities (depending on their age group) including Chrimbo Cookie baking or biscuit decoration various Yuletide art & Craft projects and our Christmas disco.

Apologies are again in order regarding the disco in that due to our particularly difficult staffing situation at the end of the Christmas term we were not able to open the disco up to children not usually attending on that day and so chose not to publicise it this year.

We're truly sorry for any upset caused to children (and parents) by them not being able to join the disco fun.

For the many children that did attend it seemed to be a roaring success and they all went home well exercised and full of party food!

The WASC Committee needs YOU!

Our committee has been soldiering along with a skeleton crew for some time now and we especially need someone to take on the role of committee chair which has been vacant now for several months with our club secretary, Jo Steel,

stoically performing the role on an acting basis since our previous chair, the fantastic Cecilia Poli left us due to a family move abroad.

Joining the committee is a great opportunity for parents to have insight and influence as to how the club runs and to help us make the club even better for their children.

If you have, or would like to gain experience of working as part of a committee and are interested in joining a friendly, dedicated committee team committed to making our club the best it can be please contact us on our management Email: management@windmillasc.co.uk to put yourself forward.

Upcoming Open Evening: Wednesday 25th January.

All parents are very welcome to come in and have a look round the club from

4pm - 5pm on this day to meet our team, see our play settings and the kind of activities and snacks the children enjoy each day.

If you are considering joining the committee but would like to know more about the club first this could be the perfect opportunity!

Other News

Belated congratulations to our manager Stuart & his wife Vicky's on the birth of their first child, Sophia back in August who has since been healthily bringing them much joy (and a fair amount of sleeplessness!)

We recently heard from a former member of our playwork team, Seren, who was with us for a couple of years while undergoing her teacher training.

She now has a fulltime teaching post and sent a lovely Email giving us the good news and thanking us for her time at the club which she spoke about in such glowing terms it nearly brought a tear to our eyes!
